You know what would make for the most awkward Thanksgiving conversation?
Not the Russia/Ukraine war. Or the election. Or whether Aunt Karen’s iconic sweet potatoes were slightly overcooked this year.
But why your son, an elite NFL quarterback, is suing his dad and brother for nearly $12 million.

Mayfield’s face after filing the lawsuit (probably)
Let’s Dive In: The Gist
Baker Mayfield is suing James and Matt Mayfield, his father and brother, alleging their companies took millions of dollars — without the QB’s knowledge — and have since failed to meet target payments as part of their settlement agreement.
X’s and O’s: The Lawsuit Allegations
Mayfield filed a 9-page complaint in a Western District of Texas federal court last Friday, alleging breach of contract against his dad and brother’s company, Camwood Capital Management Group.
On offense (plaintiffs): Baker Mayfield, his wife Emily, and their company Team BRM, LLC
On defense (defendants): Camwood Capital, Texas Contract Manufacturing Group, Unitech Tool & Machine, Inc., Apex Machining, Inc., and Lor-Van Manufacturing, Inc.
Notably, James and Matt Mayfield are not named as defendants, but both are listed as managing directors of Camwood Capital, a private equity firm based in Austin, TX.
