Longtime NFLPA Attorney Sues Union, Leadership

The NFLPA has faced several off-the-field distractions in 2025.

In July, former executive director Lloyd Howell resigned after allegations that he used union money for personal expenses, including strip club visits.

Investigations have also been launched against the union, related to potential financial and ethical misconduct.

Tied up in the lack of transparency was an arbitration ruling that wasn’t made public and involved a grievance against the league.

The latest?

Heather McPhee, a former attorney who began at the NFLPA in 2009, is suing the union and NFLPA leadership.
