Ex-Indiana hoopers are suing for improper conduct from a former team physician 🩺

We’ve seen it before: scandals involving university doctors and athletic trainers regarding their (mis)treatment of college athletes.

Perhaps most infamous — Larry Nassar of Michigan State.

New claims against another major Midwest university have emerged.

What started with two former Hoosiers suing the school last fall has turned into at least 15 ex-student-athletes pursuing litigation against Indiana.

At the center of the claims?

Alleged misconduct from Dr. Bradford Bomba, who was employed by the university from the late 1960s - 1990s.

What the ex-Hoosiers are claiming

The former Indiana athletes are alleging that former university physician Dr. Bomba “routinely gave male athletes rectal exams during physicals even though medical guidance did not recommend them for college-age men.”

The lawsuit alleges Bomba’s behavior constituted sexual misconduct and that Indiana officials — including the late head coach Bobby Knights — were aware of the behavior and did nothing to stop it.

Specifically, the players claim they went to Knight and athletic trainer Tim Garl to repeatedly complain about Bomba’s behavior.
