Inside The Chiefs’ Quest To “Three-Peat”
And why Pat Riley is rooting for Kansas City 💍

Super Bowl Sunday is three days away.
Here are my five thoughts leading up to the big game:
We cannot, as a sports society, allow the Chiefs to win again
Pat Riley is a genius (and can predict the future)
Sideline is co-hosting a Super Bowl contest (see below)
The NFL needs to stop providing credentials to rage-bait “reporters”

For item No. 2, you may be curious how Pat Riley, President of the Miami Heat, is connected to Super Bowl LIX. (No, I wasn’t commenting on last night’s trade with the Warriors).
Riley has been negotiating a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs about permission to use his “Three-Peat” trademark.
Here’s the fascinating breakdown:
“Three-Peats” in Sports History
The sports world has witnessed teams win three consecutive championships, or “three-peat” as the cool kids call it, dating back to the 1950s.
Here’s the breakdown of “three-peats” by league:
NBA 🏀 (5 “three-peats”)
Lakers (1952-1954); Celtics (1959-1966; an eight-peat); Bulls (1991-1993; 1996-1998) and Lakers (2000-2002)
NHL 🏒 (2 “three-peats”)
Canadiens (1976-1979) and Islanders (1980-1983)
MLB ⚾️ (2 “three-peats”)
Athletics (1972-1974) and Yankees (2000-2002)
WNBA 🏀 (1 “three-peat”)
Comets (1997-2000)
NFL 🏈 (1 “three-peat”)
Packers (1965-1967*)
*Note: the NFL and AFC completed its merger in 1970
If Mahomes can lead his team to victory on Sunday, the Chiefs will cement their dynasty and become the first NFL team to three-peat as Super Bowl Champions.
However, no matter who raises the Lombardi trophy on Sunday, one thing remains certain: Fanatics, the official e-commerce partner of the NFL, will be eager to sell the winning team’s fanbase with branded merchandise to celebrate their team’s triumphant victory.

Fanatics merchandise drop from last year’s Chiefs championship
This year, the NFL and Fanatics will look to sell “three-peat” merchandise should the Chiefs defeat the Eagles.
And who owns the “three-peat” trademark rights?
The former Lakers head coach who was on the brink of capturing a three-peat in the late 80s…
That’s right: Pat Riley.
